The Congress will focus on the theme “Shaping Tomorrow: Biotechnology for Health, Food, Energy, Environment,” addressing global challenges through collaboration across industry, academia, and research.

Open expression of interest!
The EFB Biobased Materials Division announces the second edition of the European Workshop on Biotechnology: Biobased Materials, taking place from 2-5 February 2026 in Sion, Switzerland. This event is designed for a small group of up to 20 participants and will feature a combination of expert-led lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions focused on the latest advances in biobased materials.

The Conference on Physiology of Yeasts and Filamentous Fungi (PYFF) brings together researchers from academia and industry working on the physiology, metabolism, genetics, and biotechnological applications of yeasts and filamentous fungi.
The 9th edition will be held from 8-11 September in Valencia, Spain, and primarily organized by members of the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA), part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

The Applied Synthetic Biology in Europe (ASBE8) Conference will take place from 4–6 November 2026 at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, UK.
Following the success of previous meetings in this series, ASBE8 will explore the wealth of applied synthetic biology research and how it is contributing to progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting will bring together key partners from academia, industry and the third sector interested in using synthetic biology, engineering biology and applied microbiology to address global challenges. 17th Asian Congress on Biotechnology
Congratulations to AFOB and KSBB for organizing the KSBB–AFOB Conference 2025. Held from 23-27 September 2025, the event brought together nearly 3,000 participants from academia and industry.
EFB was represented by Francesc Gòdia, EFB President, and Ivo Frébort, EFB Vice President. Diethard Mattanovich, former EFB Vice President and current board member of the Microbial Biotechnology Division, gave a plenary lecture on “Single carbon biotechnology at the core of a circular bioeconomy”.

YABEC 2025 (Matsue, Japan):
The Young Asian Biochemical Engineers’ Community (YABEC 2025) will be held on 19–21 November 2025, in Matsue, Japan. The event will bring together young researchers from China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to promote regional collaboration and scientific exchange.

ARS 2026 (Quy Nhon, Vietnam):
The next AFOB Regional Symposium (ARS 2026) will take place on 1–4 February 2026, in Quy Nhon, Vietnam. Host Venue: International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE). The event will be hosted by the AFOB–Vietnam RBO, focusing on biotechnology for sustainability and green innovation.
